  1. Great to hear a poet in touch with reality without being self-consciously crass. I mean, he’s had an awful time at the hands of whoever you bleeped, and I can accept the rugby because Tolkien played it (even though as a loyal Australian I follow a truly athletic game which is not soccer!), the important thing is that his poetry and conversation are not so ethereal that there’s no connection between it and a life anyone could even know of, let alone live.

    More succinctly, I like the idea of poetry at the pub, so long as it’s poetry that talks about the pub and the people, things and observations that you can draw a line to from the pub. Or Central Park. Maybe even a scrum…
