For purely literary reasons, John and Samantha return to react to and discuss Mickey Mouse’s public debut in “Steamboat Willie,” which seems less rough around the edges than “Plane Crazy” and “Gallopin’ Gaucho.” The first cartoon in synchronized sound features a gaggle of sonic gags that still feel fun after nearly a century.
