So far in all our Schloctoberfesting, Jeff Shuster and John King have not focused on either a Roger Corman film or a Charles Bronson film. Both of those oversights are addressed in this convo about what turns out to be a fairly good and psychologically interesting gangster story that successfully de-romanticizes the genre. Machine Gun Kelly came out in 1958, the last year of the 1950s to be discussed in this horrible year of 2026.
What 1940s films should Jeff and John discuss, should both still be around in 2027?

NOTES

On November 5th, I will host a celebration of what would have been Gram Parson’s 80th birthday with author Bob Kealing, who wrote the book on Gram’s life in Florida. Bob writes beautifully about Gram and taught me so much about this remarkable career of a musician’s musician.
I hope you can join us for this free event at the Winter Park Library. If you plan to attend, please register at the link below.
