Hahahaha! What an excellent episode—I, for one, learnt more about Shrek and its sequels than I thought I would do at any time, evere, in what will one day be seen as my recorded life. I’m not sure wher it firs in to the whole TDO oeuvre, because of frequent use of the R-word, but I think ‘relatable’ is a perfectly legitimate chunk of the terminology of literary analysis or film criticism.
Unfortunately, we wer nterrupted before we could find out why Shrek is better than Lord of the Rings. I’m prepared to grant you that they’re better than the Hobbit movies, but LOTR? We—I mean, the totality of humanity—are clearly overdue for a comparative analysis of Fiona and Tauriel. Gynaecofocal intrusions on an androcentric Campbellian narrative? Or some marketing-driven gender-based instantiation of the bloody Bechtel test? I don’t know…I need a cup of tea.
